Masala Chai Oat And Date Crumble Bake

Ingredients

Oats mixture

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 Tetley Masala chai “tea bags”
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 5 dates pitted and chopped
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground cardamom

Topping ingredients:

  • 1 cup mixed chopped nuts I used a mix of almonds and walnuts
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tsp butter or coconut oil melted and slightly cooled
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
  • Pinch of salt

Method

  1. Preheat oven 175 degrees C and grease a nonstick casserole.
  2. Bring milk to a simmer in a small saucepan. Add Tetley Masala chai tea bags and remove from heat leaving it to steep for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags after five minutes and pour into your casserole.
  3. Next add your oats, banana, dates, chia seeds, cinnamon and cardamom into the tea, stir to combine.
  4. In a bowl combine nuts, brown sugar, butter/coconut oil, cinnamon and salt.
  5. Use your hands to mix and rub brown sugar into the nuts.
  6. Add nut mixture over oats. Place in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden. Enjoy
