Madeira Cake
A madeira cake recipe that is easy and delicious! This traditional Madeira cake is light, soft, moist with a firm texture. Perfect for everyday baking.
Madeira Cake


  • 150 grams soften butter
  • 150 grams castor sugar
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 175 grams self raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 30 ml milk


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Grease a cake tin.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add in the egg.
  4. Sift the flour and baking powder together and fold into the mix to make a soft mixture, add in the vanilla essence and slowly add the milk.
  5. Spoon the mixture into the tin and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until springy to the touch.
  6. Leave to cool on a wire rack.
  7. You could add some lemon zest into the mixture (Optional)
