Healing Turmeric Tonic
Since the numbers are growing crazy with Covid-19, we have to try our best to take every kind of precautions. My husband reminded me about the famous back in the day healing turmeric tonic which he actually didn’t realize this use to be made by many of our great grandparents and parents especially in winter times. Turmeric, lemon and ginger are rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, which are stated to cleanse the body and strengthen immune system. I added some cloves and cayenne pepper. You could also add some honey. Turmeric contains a compound called curcumin, which boasts amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that has been known to aid digestion and relieve nausea. Lemon is naturally detoxifying and alkalizing in the body, aids in healthy bowel movements, and boasts plenty of Vitamin C, which boosts the immune system. Cayenne pepper stimulates circulation, boosts metabolism, naturally relieves pain, and can have an alkalizing effect in the body. Cloves have many potential health benefits, including keeping blood sugar in check and helping block the growth of bacteria.
Healing Turmeric Tonic

Ingredients

  • 1 liter boiled water
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • 1 whole ginger peeled and sliced
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Few cloves

Method

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a pot and let it boil on medium heat for five minutes.
  2. Empty to a jug and have it at room temperature or warmed up.
