Acai Bowl
Originating in Brazil, the Acai bowl is made of frozen Acai palm fruit that is pureed and served as a smoothie in a bowl or glass. In Brazil, Acai bowls are typically topped with granola, banana or some berries. This Acai Bowl Recipe is perfect as breakfast or as a healthy dessert for low carb, ketogenic, gluten, grain and sugar free.
Acai Bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen berry mix (any combo: blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries)
  • 1 fresh or frozen banana
  • 2 tablespoons Acai berry powder
  • 1 cup water or non-dairy milk, add more as needed
  • 1 serving protein powder, hemp seeds or nut butter, (only optional for protein)

Topping

  • Mix of fresh berries or any fruit
  • Granola
  • Toasted coconut flakes
  • Chia seeds and/or hemp hearts
  • Dollop of sugar free peanut butter

Method

  1. In a blender, place the berries, banana, Acai powder, optional protein source and water/milk. Blend until smooth.
  2. Add extra water if needed (most likely you won’t need any).
  3. Place in serving bowl and top with the suggested toppings or your favorite assortment. and enjoy
